Cobalt Violet Sequence

encaustic and graphite, 36"x48"

April 2013

Cobalt Violet Sequence was made for the sheer joy of color and the Caran d'Ache graphite. This painting is a departure from the subtle and light, which prevailed in my earlier work. It is also the first large scale work to utilize encaustic as a medium for creating texture, and not solely for its luminescence, translucence and depth, as I had done previously.
